Swell experiments

Hello my dear friends,

How are you? Did you have a pleasant weekend? It feels like years ago now, doesn't it?

Mine was good thanks, although busy - very unlike me. But the good news is I did manage to squeeze in some time with the sewing machine. Much like with my jewellery, I am teaching myself, so every day brings a new challenge/disaster. I finally took the plunge and had a first go at making the pouches I discussed in my last post. Here is my "prototype":

So what do you think? Considering this is my first ever attempt and that I've only been sewing for about 2 weeks, I think it could have been a lot worse! Any feedback, suggestions or tips you might have would be GREATLY appreciated, please. I need all the help I can get! On a plus side, I love this print and I couldn't be happier with the labels. Once I get my stitching sorted, these pouches might end up looking ok!

In other news, I will be moving to East London on 5th June! While this is very exciting, it also means that I need to get my life (and stuff) sorted, so it's going to get busier in the coming weeks. Needless to say, I'm going to get very behind with my blog reader!

    I can't sew a lick and I think it looks just fine! I love the fabric and I'm impressed with just two weeks of practice! And congrats on the move!

    Color me impressed! You did an amazing job! I tried to teach myself how to use a sewing machine and gave up in frustration after a day or two. Those are adorable little jewelry pouches...

    That looks lovely. The label is such a great touch too. I think you're doing very well with your sewing. It's always just time and practice that smooths out any rough edges we have. :)

    these are very cute and so useful, i love little pouchy things and seem to collect them and never even use, i guess i have more pouches than things to put in pouches!
